Bio

Hello! I’m Mariah Guzman and I earned my B.S. and M.S. in Journalism from the University of Illinois and I currently work at 247Sports as a writer on the National news desk. Previously, I worked at ESPN as a production assistant on the show staff for SportsCenter at Night, The Scott Van Pelt show, and NFL Live.

My experience in the field is broad. From behind-the-scenes production work to building shows for TV, and reporting on news and sports stories. My most notable accomplishment is jump-starting Illini Sports Night during its first season in the Spring of 2020. Through that work as a producer, I earned honors for a Crystal Pillar award from the NATAS Mid-America foundation. I continued to lead the team as an Executive Producer and co-host for Illini Sports Night. I also served as an anchor and reporter for the UI7 Live newscasts. I worked with Good Morning Illini for two years as a crew member, reporter, and on-camera talent and anchor for the live Friday morning shows.

Additional work includes reporting for 247 Sports Illini Inquirer — covering Illinois Football and non-revenue Illinois sports. I’ve always looked forward to challenging myself as a journalist and multimedia producer.
