A compilation of work including an array of skills through multimedia, reporting, and anchoring. Mariah Guzman is a Production assistant at ESPN and a graduate of the University of Illinois, Class of 2020 and 2021.
Mariah Guzman earned her B.S. and M.S. in Journalism from the University of Illinois and currently works at ESPN as a production assistant. Working on Sports Center at Night, Guzman produces game highlights and has worked on playoff baseball games and high-stakes NFL games. She also spends some time working on the show staff, including Scott Van Pelt's Sports Center show.
Her experience in the field is broad. From behind-the-scenes production work to building shows for TV, and reporting on news and sports stories. Guzman’s most notable accomplishment at Illinois is jump-starting Illini Sports Night during its first season in the Spring of 2020. Through her work as a producer, Guzman earned honors for a Crystal Pillar award from the NATAS Mid-America foundation. Guzman served as the Executive Producer and co-host for Illini Sports Night. She also served as an anchor and reporter for the UI7 Live newscasts. She worked with Good Morning Illini for two years as a crew member, reporter, and on-camera talent and anchor for the live Friday morning shows.
Additional work includes reporting for 247 Sports Illini Inquirer — covering Illinois Football and non-revenue Illinois sports. Guzman looks forward to challenging herself as a journalist this year and providing great coverage on Illinois sports and the Champaign-Urbana community.
